The Fair Housing Council is a private, nonprofit civil rights agency that assists people who have experienced housing discrimination, which means situations where someone is denied housing or treated unfairly due to their protected class. For example, they assist a large number of clients with disabilities in obtaining modifications and accommodations to make their housing more accessible, including individuals who have service or emotional support animals but their housing provider has a “no pet” or restrictive pet policy.
